Basketball Game Preview: Crownpoint Eagles vs. Thoreau Hawks

It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Eagles challenge the Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Crownpoint is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Navajo Prep on Wednesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Crownpoint was dealt a 68-32 defeat at the hands of Navajo Prep. The loss continues a trend for Crownpoint in their matchups with Navajo Prep: they've now lost seven in a row.

Meanwhile, Thoreau earned a 66-55 victory over Wingate on Wednesday.

The win got Thoreau back to even at 12-12. As for Crownpoint, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-16.

Crownpoint barely slipped by Thoreau when the teams last played back in January, winning 42-41. The rematch might be a little tougher for Crownpoint since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
