Basketball Recap: Ramiro Vazquez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Monte Alto over Vanguard Academy Rembrandt

Monte Alto lost against Vanguard Academy Rembrandt back in January of 2021 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Monte Alto Blue Devil lost to the Vanguard Academy Rembrandt Spartans at home by a 64-46 margin. The Blue Devil have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Monte Alto lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ramiro Vazquez, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards. Those 15 points gave Vazquez a new career-high. Brian Ruiz was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Ryan Ruiz was a one-man wrecking crew for Vanguard Academy Rembrandt as he dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Gilardo Perez, who went 6 of 15 en route to 13 points and five boards.

Monte Alto's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-12. As for Vanguard Academy Rembrandt, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-6.

Monte Alto wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 88-43 win against Idea Academy on the 14th. Vanguard Academy Rembrandt has also already played their next game, a 65-53 victory against Vanguard Academy Beethoven on the 14th.
