League recap: Whitman's Flack delivers best pitching performance from past week

Michael Flack was the best pitcher in Montgomery County 4A - West this week, leading Whitman. Over the past week, he had one win and 10 Ks.

With a big week, Northwest jumped into the top 25 in the state rankings. Northwest moved up from No. 69 in the state all the way to No. 19 thanks to a 3-0 record over the past week. Led by manager Todd Varesco, the Jaguars are ranked No. 1274 in the nation with an overall record of 14-6.

Bethesda-Chevy Chase stole 21 bases this week, adding to its league-leading 92 steals on the year. Given the green light by manager John Schmidt, Austin Sapin has racked up 21 steals on his own this season for the Barons.

The Vikings continue to give up the least hits to opposing lineups this season, after surrendering only eight in the past week. On the year, Whitman has allowed only 72 hits.

Bethesda-Chevy Chase's Cobi Furcolo led the league with six hits this week. On the season, he's hitting .292 and ranks twelfth in the league with 19 hits.
