Baseball Game Preview: Davie War Eagles vs. Reagan Raiders

Davie hasn't had much luck against Reagan recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The War Eagles will square off against the Raiders at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Davie comes in on eight and Reagan on 11.

Davie is headed into the match having just posted their closest win since March 11th on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out West Forsyth 3-2. The game was the first time the War Eagles have beaten the Titans on their field since April 8, 2022.

Davie got a great performance from Tucker Hobbs as he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Hobbs has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Davie's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Potts, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Reagan's hitters rose to the challenge against an Eagles pitching crew that boasted an average of only four runs allowed on Tuesday. The Raiders were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over East Forsyth. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won 11 contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Reagan's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Davie, their record now sits at 14-12.

Davie might still be hurting after the 8-0 defeat they got from Reagan in their previous matchup back in April. Can the War Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
