Washington strolled into their game on Monday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the South Knox Spartans. The Hatchets have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Spartans, too.

Washington wouldn't go down easily and took South Knox into a fifth set where they got it done with a five-point win. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 26-24, 16-25, 25-16, 15-10.

Washington can attribute much of their success to Kennedy Barnard, who had 17 digs. Those 17 digs gave Barnard a new career-high. Jaea Cooper also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Washington's victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for South Knox, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Washington will square off against Princeton at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for South Knox, they will challenge Wood Memorial at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup will give the Spartans their first taste of in-conference action this season.
