Baseball Game Preview: York Dukes vs. Fairbury Jeffs

The York Dukes will challenge the Fairbury Jeffs at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. York is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.

York's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Aurora 19-0. The contest marked the Dukes' most dominant victory of the season so far.

York got a great performance from Malekai Conrad as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Jackson Holoch was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emmitt Dirks, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

York always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Aurora only posted an OBP of .263.

Meanwhile, Fairbury was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Malcolm, falling 17-2.

Dom Joe made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base was his first of the season.

York's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Fairbury, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Everything went York's way against Fairbury in their previous matchup back in March of 2025, as York made off with a 14-6 victory. Do the Dukes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Jeffs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
