Baseball Game Preview: San Clemente Tritons vs. Beckman Patriots

For the second straight game, San Clemente will face off against Beckman. The Tritons will be playing at home against the Patriots at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. San Clemente is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

On Wednesday, San Clemente needed a bit of extra time to put away Beckman. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Patriots. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tritons have posted since April 12, 2024.

San Clemente got a great performance from Bob Erspamer as he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Erspamer has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, San Clemente let Cade Cerone and Barrett Wood run wild. Cerone went 2-for-5 with two runs and one double, while Wood went 3-for-5 with one stolen base and one run. Those three hits gave Wood a new career-high. Jake Starling was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

San Clemente kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

San Clemente now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Beckman, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-12.
