Basketball Recap: Tolman/Shea Falls Short Against Ranked Barrington

On Tuesday, Tolman/Shea faced Barrington in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Tolman/Shea received a blow as they fell 62-44 to the Barrington Eagles. Tolman/Shea just can't catch a break and has now endured four losses in a row.

Despite the defeat, Tolman/Shea saw an underclassman step up: freshman Zareia Colome posted 22 points and three steals. Colome is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Tiyara Gonzalez, who had six points in addition to five assists and four steals.

Even though they lost, Tolman/Shea smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Riley Graveline went supernova for Barrington, going 8-for-13 on her way to 22 points. Graveline continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Olivia Morrissette was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Tolman/Shea's loss dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Barrington, the win was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-5.

Tolman/Shea wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 56-54 defeat against Cranston West on the 12th. As for Barrington, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 48-36 victory against St. Mary Academy-Bay View on the 13th.
