Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Pine River Area

Pine River Area won the last time they faced Houghton Lake and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Bucks were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Bobcats. Considering the Bucks have won nine games by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kylee Mumby made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Lilly Felsk and Mary Nichols did most of the damage at the plate: Felsk got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, while Nichols went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Nichols is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Adalyn Holmes, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

The win (which was Pine River Area's third in a row) raised their record to 11-2. As for Houghton Lake, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Pine River Area beat the Bobcats by a score of 16-0 later that day.
