Softball Recap: Blackfoot Gets the Win

While Blackfoot's victory against Rigby wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Broncos sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the Trojans on Monday. The Broncos have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Trojans, too.

Brianna Reynolds made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma McGuire, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Berkley Moore also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Blackfoot and bumps their season record up to 14-3. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for Rigby, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Trojans beat Blackfoot by a score of 16-14 later that day.
