Baseball Game Preview: Straughn Tigers vs. Opp Bobcats

For the second straight game, Straughn will face off against Opp. The Tigers will square off against the Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Straughn has given up an average of 6.8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Straughn's last matchup with Opp could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Tuesday. The Tigers lost 11-3 to the Bobcats. Surprisingly, this marked the fifth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Clark Gay was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February.

At the plate, JT Moreno was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was his first of the season.

The win was the third in a row for Opp, bringing their record up to 18-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Straughn, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.
