Basketball Recap: Neuse Charter's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Neuse Charter and Wilson Prep squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Neuse Charter had to settle for second. They fell 53-43 to the Wilson Prep Tigers. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Yedidia Tsolenyanu, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Tsolenyanu has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Cayley Cochran, who posted six points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Wilson Prep found their leader in freshman Paris Best, who had 22 points in addition to seven boards and five assists. Those seven rebounds gave Best a new career-high. MyAngel Brimage was another key player, going 5-for-11 en route to 11 points and eight boards.

Neuse Charter's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 23-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.8 points on average over those games. As for Wilson Prep, their win was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 25-1.

Neuse Charter does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wilson Prep, they will square off against East Bladen at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Bladen will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something Wilson Prep surely won't give up without a fight.
