Basketball Recap: Alief Taylor Takes a Loss

Alief Taylor was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 59-46 to the Alief Elsik Rams. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 44-37 back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Alief Taylor lost, don't look at Tae Malik. Despite the final result, he went 5-for-12 en route to 12 points and eight rebounds. That's the most boards Malik has posted since back in February of 2024. Brent Johnson was another key player, putting up five points.

Alief Elsik got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Timothy Ofesi out in front who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Ofesi is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Joshua Smith, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine boards.

Alief Taylor's loss dropped their record down to 10-21. As for Alief Elsik, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 15-18 record this season.

Alief Taylor does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Alief Elsik, they have already played their next contest, an 81-43 defeat against Seven Lakes on the 18th.
