Basketball Recap: Eastside Comes Up Short

Eastside lost against Bishop Eustace Prep back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Eastside Tigers fell just short of the Bishop Eustace Prep Crusaders by a score of 57-55. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Eastside lost, don't look at Romelo Mangum. Despite the final result, he went 7-for-11 en route to 17 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. What's more, Mangum also posted a 64% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2023. Tyrone Washam was another key player, putting up eight points along with 11 assists and five steals.

Even though they lost, Eastside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Eastside's defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Bishop Eustace Prep, their win bumped their record up to 13-6.

Looking ahead, Eastside will take on Camden County Vo-Tech at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Bishop Eustace Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
