Softball Game Preview: Hudson Cobras vs. Springstead Eagles

Hudson hasn't had much luck against Springstead recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Cobras will face off against the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Hudson turned things around against Fivay on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 19-4 margin over the Falcons. The result was nothing new for the Cobras, who have now won seven contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Springstead ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They walked away with a 5-1 win over Mitchell. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by exactly four runs.

Alivia Miller made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over eight innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Miller wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lili Klink, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Kaylana Lyons was another, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Hudson's record is now 7-10. As for Springstead, their record now sits at 14-1.

Hudson suffered a grim 11-3 defeat to Springstead in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Cobras avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
