Recap: Green Level Gators vs. Apex Cougars
The Green Level Gators put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Apex at home to the tune of 78-49. Green Level has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 20 points or more this season.
Israel Eatman continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 24 points along with five rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Manhertz, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Despite the defeat, Apex had strong showings from Chip Persson, who went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and 5 assists, and Isaiah Scott, who scored 11 points. It was the first time this season that Persson scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Adley Calhoun, who scored five points.
Green Level pushed their record up to 25-0 with that win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Apex, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-19.
Green Level and Apex Friendship will face off at 5:00 p.m. on February 21st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Apex Friendship will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 104th, while Green Level is ranked 19th). Apex does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
