Basketball Recap: Wellington Takes a Loss

Wellington lost against Firelands back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Wellington Dukes fell to the Firelands Falcons 42-36. The Dukes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Wellington lost, don't look at Grace Knapp. Despite the final result, she went 5 of 10 on her way to 12 points. Those 12 points gave Knapp a new career-high. Brooke Lehmkuhl was another key player, putting up 12 points and seven boards.

Wellington's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Firelands, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wellington has already played their next match (against Northwestern), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Firelands will look to defend their home court on January 29th against Columbia at 7:00 p.m. Columbia will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Firelands surely won't give up without a fight.
