Basketball Game Preview: Waupaca Comets vs. Antigo Red Robins

The Waupaca Comets are taking a road trip to face off against the Antigo Red Robins at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 70-43, which was the final score in Waupaca's tilt against Little Chute on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Comets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 300th, while the Mustangs are ranked 59th).

Meanwhile, Antigo entered their matchup against Medford on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Antigo lost 67-44 to Medford.

Waupaca's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Antigo, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-4.

Everything came up roses for Waupaca against Antigo in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 64-35 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Waupaca since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
