Chicago Marshall hasn't had much luck against Orr recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The two teams will compete for holiday cheer at 5:00 p.m. Chicago Marshall will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
On Friday, Chicago Marshall didn't have too much trouble with Curie as they won 42-23. The Commandos pushed the score to 38-14 by the end of the third, a deficit the Condors cut but never quite recovered from.
Chicago Marshall's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Monay Robinson led the charge by dropping a double-double with 15 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Janiyah Green, who shot 41% from the field on her way to 16 points in addition to six steals and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Orr's strategy against Prosser on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Spartans blew the Falcons out of the water with a 57-19 final score. With that victory, the Spartans brought their scoring average up to 50.9 points per game.
Chicago Marshall better focus on containing Carmani Sharkey and Ja'Una Williams as the pair were huge in Orr's win. Sharkey went 11-for-27 to rack up 24 points along with eight steals and six boards, while Williams posted 17 points in addition to six steals and five rebounds. Sharkey is becoming a predictor of Orr's success: when she posts at least 20 points the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when she doesn't). Trinity Shipp was another key player, putting up ten points.
Chicago Marshall's record now sits at 6-2. As for Orr, their record is now 5-2.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Chicago Marshall has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.1 boards per game. However, it's not like Orr struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.4 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Chicago Marshall came up short against Orr in their previous matchup back in February, falling 45-33. Can the Commandos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
