Softball Recap: Lake Oswego Has No Trouble Against Cleveland

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lake Oswego). They were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over the Cleveland Warriors on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Lakers with their most commanding win of the season.

Avery Cavagnaro was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Cavagnaro was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. She also put up a home run, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Sydney Perlewitz was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing four bases while going 4-for-4. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Monica Goodwin, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple.

Lake Oswego always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cleveland only posted an OBP of .391.

Lake Oswego's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Cleveland, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coming up, Lake Oswego will welcome South Salem at 6:45 p.m. on April 2. As for Cleveland, they will face off against McNary at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
