Softball Recap: Valmeyer Pirates vs. Marissa/Coulterville Meteors
With a playoff game on the line, Valmeyer rose to the challenge on Monday. They put the hurt on the Marissa/Coulterville Meteors with a sharp 8-1 victory. Valmeyer might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won ten matches by six runs or more this season.
Brooke Miller made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Miller has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in four consecutive pitching appearances. Miller was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Avery Proffer was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two runs, a triple, and two RBI. Payton Similey was another key contributor, going 4-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
