Baseball Recap: Duncan Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Duncan ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Lordsburg Mavericks by a score of 10-6. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wildkats also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2025.

Ethan Hernandez made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. He also allowed no hits, which is notable because Duncan is undefeated when he allows at most two hits, but 2-3 otherwise. Hernandez was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, Duncan let Taygan Jensen and Karsen Lacey run wild. Jensen went 3-for-5 with six stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Lacey went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Those six stolen bases gave Jensen a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Guy Reidhead, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Duncan's victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Lordsburg, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.

Coming up, Duncan is taking a road trip to square off against St. David at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildkats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. As for Lordsburg, they will be playing at home against San Simon at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Longhorns have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.55 runs per game on average), something the Mavericks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
