Softball Recap: Kofa Finds Home Field Redemption Against Yuma

Kofa's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Liberty on Monday. The Kings were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Yuma Criminals. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 18-2 two weeks ago.

Charlize Anaya was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Kofa got a massive performance out of Hailey Alvarez, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those four stolen bases gave Alvarez a new career-high. Emery Venegas was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Kofa kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.4.

The win snapped Kofa's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-15 record. As for Yuma, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8.

As of now, neither Kofa nor the Criminals have any future games scheduled.
