Baseball Recap: Skyline Comes Up Short

Skyline had lost six straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 5-15 to make it seven. They fell 5-1 to the Bedford Kicking Mules. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

As for Bedford, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-7. Five seems to be a good number for them as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

For Bedford's part, Jaxson Lestock made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lestock has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jason Bryant was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. Brody Leonhard was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

While Skyline had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
