Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Lacey Goodson and Harmony Mills Lead Independence to Victory

With a playoff win on the line, Independence rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Shady Spring Tigers by a score of 42-31. The victory was nothing new for the Patriots as they're now sitting on three straight.

Independence was led to victory by Harmony Mills and Lacey Goodson. Mills on her way to 24 points along with eight steals and seven boards, while Goodson posted 14 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds. The game was Mills' third in a row with at least 24 points.

Independence smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 16 consecutive contests.

Independence's win bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Shady Spring, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-16.

Looking ahead, Independence will take on Greenbrier East at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Greenbrier East's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups. Shady Spring does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
