Basketball Recap: Rapides Comes Up Short

Rapides lost against Tioga back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Rapides Mustangs fell to the Tioga Indians 60-55. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 289th, while the Indians are ranked 62nd).

Despite the loss, Rapides still got an impressive performance from Zayveian Johnson, who posted 21 points. That was a full 38.2% of Rapides' points, marking the 14th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Wilson, who scored 11 points and eight boards.

Rapides' loss dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Tioga, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 22-10 record this season.

Rapides will challenge Avoyelles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Tioga, they will take on Grant at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
