Basketball Game Preview: Merrimack Tomahawks vs. Nashua South Purple Panthers

Merrimack and Nashua South are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2017, but not for long. The Merrimack Tomahawks will host the Nashua South Purple Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, Merrimack took a blow against Bedford, falling 94-64. While losing is never fun, the Tomahawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Hampshire basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while the Bulldogs are ranked tenth).

Meanwhile, Nashua South strolled past Portsmouth with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 71-56. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Purple Panthers.

Merrimack has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Nashua South, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Merrimack won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, slipping by Nashua South 57-56. Does Merrimack have another victory up their sleeve, or will Nashua South turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
