Basketball Recap: Raegyn Blackburn's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Wayne over Rich

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Wayne can now relate to. They took a 53-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rich Rebels on Friday. The Badgers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rebels apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.

Several Badgers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Raegyn Blackburn, who posted 11 points and three steals. Blackburn is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Timber Wood, who put up eight points and three steals.

Rich found their leader in sophomore Braylyn Pugmire, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 16 rebounds. Cassandra Argyle was another key player, putting up ten points and five assists.

Wayne's defeat dropped their record down to 17-6. As for Rich, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 24-2.

Wayne has already played their next matchup, a 56-50 victory against Panguitch on the 1st. As for Rich, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 40-38 win against Tabiona on the 1st.
