Softball Recap: Fitch Takes Down Ranked Cranston West

Fitch is ranked highly in their home state and on Wednesday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Cranston West. Fitch narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Cranston West 3-1. Winning may never get old, but Fitch sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.

Hailey Merrill spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits.

On the hitting side, Katie MacPherson was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaedyn Steffens, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Fitch's record is now 5-3. As for Cranston West, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.

Coming up, Fitch will challenge Killingly at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cranston West, they will welcome West Warwick at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
