Baseball Recap: Boulder Creek Comes Up Short

Boulder Creek extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 8-17 in the process. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pinnacle Pioneers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pioneers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-2 on Tuesday.

Boulder Creek saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Parks, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

As for Pinnacle, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-11-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games.

On Pinnacle's side, they got a great performance from Noah Weiss as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Weiss a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sam Green, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Pinnacle's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-1 (and 7-10-1 when he doesn't). Erik Moo was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Looking ahead, Boulder Creek will face off against Corona del Sol at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Aztecs will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Jaguars surely won't give up without a fight. As for Pinnacle, they will square off against Perry at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
