League recap: Ackerman beats East Webster in tight affair

Ackerman and East Webster played the most hotly contested game in 2A Region 2 this week, with Ackerman eventually emerging with a 6-0 victory.

The Wolverines' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Deangelo Liggins threw for 20 yards and Jack Wilson had 13 yards receiving. On the ground Liggins chipped in 58 yards. Marques Reives helped East Webster's passing attack out by catching one ball for seven yards.

Colby Williamson made the biggest impact on defense this week as East Webster lost to the Indians. The junior recorded one fumble.

On the ground, the Wolverines' Reives has rushed for 541 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Jones Derrick. The Eupora star has 11 catches for 271 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Eupora takes on Hamilton. As it stands, the Eagles are in first, while the Lions are in fourth.

Hamilton made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 12,058 from 12,548. The improvement was the result of 43-14 victory over Williams Sullivan last week.
