Softball Recap: Taft Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

There's no place like home for Taft, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Steinmetz College Prep Streaks on Friday as they made off with an 18-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 12 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Michaela Power made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Haley Eccarius, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Victoria Perez, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Taft kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Taft pushed their record up to 18-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Steinmetz College Prep, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-5.

Coming up, Taft will square off against Jones at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Steinmetz College Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
