Softball Recap: Winterset Gets the Win

Winterset hadn't done well against Urbandale recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Huskies sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the J-Hawks. This was payback for the Huskies, who suffered a 2-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Winterset has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Urbandale, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-6.

Winterset didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 13-3 loss against Northwest on the 7th. As for Urbandale, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 9-2 defeat against Dallas Center-Grimes on the 7th.
