            Soccer Preview: Gilbert vs. Brookland-Cayce        
        
		
        
        
            Gilbert is 2-8 against Brookland-Cayce since March of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit  on Tuesday. Gilbert will venture away from home to  face off against Brookland-Cayce  at 7:00  p.m. Both come into the  contest bolstered by wins in their previous  matches.
Having struggled with four  defeats in a row, Gilbert  turned things around against Midland Valley  on Thursday. They never let the Mustangs get on the board and left with  a   2-0  win. The score was all tied up  0-0 at the break, but Gilbert were the  better team in the second half.
 Cade Hopp and  Adair Duque scored both of Gilbert's goals,  bringing their combined season tally to five goals.
 Meanwhile, Brookland-Cayce had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2 goals) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of  2-0. Give Brookland-Cayce's defense some credit: that's the team's fourth straight shutout.
 Gilbert's  victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 3-5-2. As for Brookland-Cayce, they now  have a winning record of 6-5.
 Gilbert might still be hurting after the  3-0 loss they got from Brookland-Cayce  in their previous meeting  back in April of 2024. Can Gilbert avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
