Softball Recap: Highland Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Frontier, Highland was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They never let the Ridgeview Wolf Pack get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Scots, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Lauren Montes made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Madelyn Gonzalez was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Gracie Luna was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Highland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ridgeview only posted an OBP of .000.

Highland's record is now 17-7-2. As for Ridgeview, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 16 of their last 17 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-19-1 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Highland beat Ridgeview by a score of 15-0 on Friday.
