Basketball Recap: Genesee Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Jackson Banks and Noah Bollman + How To Watch

Genesee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 59-53 heartbreaker at the hands of the Pomeroy Pirates. The Bulldogs lost against the Pirates in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 62-27 score last time.

Noah Bollman and Jackson Banks certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Bollman shot 40% from the field to rack up 22 points in addition to seven assists and six boards, while Banks went 7-for-17 on his way to 18 points. The game was Bollman's sixth in a row with at least 19 points.

Genesee's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Pomeroy, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Genesee will face off against Nezperce at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Pomeroy, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Waitsburg at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Pirates' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
