Preview: Montcalm Generals vs. Mount View Golden Knights
Montcalm is 0-10 against Mount View since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Montcalm Generals will be playing at home against the Mount View Golden Knights at 6:45 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Montcalm took a serious blow against James Monroe, falling 76-25. Montcalm was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-7.
Meanwhile, Mount View ended up a good deal behind Bluefield on Friday and lost 68-49. While losing is never fun, Mount View can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while Bluefield is ranked 11th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Matthias Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Zion Jackson, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Montcalm has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season. As for Mount View, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
Montcalm came up short against Mount View in their previous matchup last Thursday, falling 40-30. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Mount View's Zymir Martin, who scored 24 points along with eight steals. Now that Montcalm knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
