Recap: St. Mary's Lancers vs. Cardinal O'Hara Hawks
The St. Mary's Lancers and the Cardinal O'Hara Hawks squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but sadly the St. Mary's Lancers had to settle for second. St. Mary's was dealt a 55-6 loss at the hands of Cardinal O'Hara. St. Mary's can't seem to catch a break and have yet to win any of their six games.
Cardinal O'Hara's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jarrell Green, who rushed for 73 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries, and also threw for 229 yards and two touchdowns while completing 76.9% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Jakye Rainey, who picked up 177 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
St. Mary's bumped their record down to 0-6 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 3.3 points per game. As for Cardinal O'Hara, their win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-5.
St. Mary's does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Cardinal O'Hara will head out on the road to face off against Bishop Timon-St. Jude at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Bishop Timon-St. Jude is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
