Basketball Game Preview: Enloe Eagles vs. Athens Drive Jaguars

Enloe is 1-8 against Athens Drive since November of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Enloe Eagles will look to defend their home court against the Athens Drive Jaguars at 6:00 p.m.

Enloe is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 12th straight game on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a 61-7 loss at the hands of Southeast Raleigh. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 534th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 29th).

Meanwhile, Athens Drive entered their tilt with Sanderson on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Spartans 54-14. The Jaguars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 20 points or more this season.

Athens Drive's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Enloe, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-13.

Enloe took a serious blow against Athens Drive in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 62-24. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Athens Drive's Quincie Toran, who posted 17 points along with eight rebounds and six steals.
