Softball Recap: Point Loma's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

After losing to Southwest EC the last time they met, Point Loma decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Point Loma Pointers walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Southwest EC Eagles on Friday.

Point Loma let Leyton MacPherson and Avery MacPherson run wild. Leyton went 1-for-2 with four RBI, while Avery went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI. The dominant performance gave Leyton a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Lopez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Point Loma was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southwest EC only posted a batting average of .125.

Point Loma's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-1. As for Southwest EC, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Looking ahead, Point Loma will be taking part in a tournament against Torrey Pines at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Southwest EC, they will take on Holtville in a tournament on Tuesday.
