Williamsville South is 2-8 against Williamsville East since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Billies will be playing in front of their home fans against the Flames at 5:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Williamsville South comes in on four and Williamsville East on three.
On Tuesday, Williamsville South beat Sweet Home 5-1. That's two games straight that the Billies have won by exactly four runs.
Alyssa Budzinski was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Nicole Miller was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples and one run. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mac Marranca, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Williamsville South hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Williamsville East narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Hamburg 4-2.
Libby Kosmowski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Elise Prelewicz, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Briana White was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Williamsville South's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Williamsville East, their victory bumped their record up to 8-6.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Williamsville South hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .355. However, it's not like Williamsville East struggles in that department as they've averaged .368. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
