League recap: Channel Islands climbs in state rankings

Channel Islands scaled the state rankings by moving to 541 from 570 this week, the biggest jump in Pacific View. The Raiders were able to move up by defeating Rio Mesa 21-16.

Camarillo added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Oxnard, 28-21. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.

Adan Salas threw for 414 yards and 4 touchdowns. He went 30-49 with 1 interception.

Chris Nichols had an awesome week catching the football as Hueneme lost to Pacifica. He caught 12 passes for 237 yards.

Kevin Davis was the best running back in the league this week. In 20 carries, he ran for 195 yards as the Tritons lost to the Tritons. Jacob Neri also contributed to the rushing game with 59 yards on the ground.

The leading receiver in the league this season is Deondre Vines. The Pacifica star has 31 catches for 746 yards.

The top two teams in Pacific View will face off this week when first place Camarillo takes on second place Channel Islands. Last week, Camarillo defeated the Yellowjackets, while Channel Islands topped the Spartans.

Hueneme's Salas is within 181 passing yards of surpassing 2,000 on the season coming into this week's game against Oxnard. So far this year, Salas has thrown for 1,819 yards with 11 touchdowns and 6 interceptions.

Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when Pacifica's Vines goes up against Rio Mesa's Anthony Corona.

Mike Moon's team took down Brett Davis' team 60-27 last week, the largest margin of any game. Davis ran for 195 yards during the win.
