Basketball Recap: Ilwaco Takes a Loss

Ilwaco was the 79-64 winner over Ocosta when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Ilwaco Fishermen received a blow on Wednesday as they fell 53-37 to the Ocosta Wildcats.

Kayden Turner had a dynamite game for Ocosta, going 7 for 11 on his way to 20 points and three steals. That's the most points Turner has posted since back in November of 2023. Sonny Beard was another key player, putting up eight points along with 12 boards and three steals.

Ilwaco's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Ocosta, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ilwaco will square off against Naselle at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Ocosta, they will challenge Wishkah Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
