Baseball Recap: Cobleskill-Richmondville Drops Season-High Score on Mekeel Christian Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cobleskill-Richmondville). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Mekeel Christian Academy Lions a 24-0 shutout on Monday. Considering the Bulldogs have won 12 games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Aiden Joslin and Brody Becker made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Joslin pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Becker pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, Joslin posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Joslin went 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI, while Becker went a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Matt Gunzinger was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, one double, and one RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Brandon Rotman was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Cobleskill-Richmondville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .727. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory (which was Cobleskill-Richmondville's fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-2-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Mekeel Christian Academy, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.

As of now, neither Cobleskill-Richmondville nor the Lions have any future games scheduled.
