Football Recap: Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton hadn't done well against Salamanca recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Warriors 28-25. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 49-12 win the Warriors walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

Thandon Bensink had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 130 yards and three scores while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. Those 130 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Aiden Woodis was in the mix as well, providing Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton with one TD.

Another reason for the win was Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Leading the way was Clayton Smith with two. Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton received some extra help from Woodis, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

The victory (which was Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton's third in a row) raised their record to 7-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.7 points over those games. As for Salamanca, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season.
