Baseball Recap: Spring Mountain Takes a Loss

Spring Mountain extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping their season record down to 2-7 in the process. They lost 23-6 to the Liberty Baptist Academy Knights. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 9-1 to the Knights when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Liberty Baptist Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Liberty Baptist Academy's part, Angelo Tatonetti and Bryce Miano made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Tatonetti pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Miano pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. At bat, Tatonetti went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run, while Miano got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jadon Noriega, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Dominic Giannini was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spring Mountain will take on Tonopah at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Muckers have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season. As for Liberty Baptist Academy, they will square off against Sandy Valley at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
