Baseball Recap: Galena Takes a Loss

Galena lost against Seymour back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Bears fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 8-7. The Bears' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Jaxon Foster put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. That home run was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Cody Jones made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 5-for-5 with two runs and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Galena's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Bryce Wall, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Galena's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Seymour, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Galena will host Walnut Grove at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Seymour, they will square off against Fordland at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
