Baseball Recap: Raymond Central's Losing Streak Snapped at Six Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Platte Valley, Raymond Central was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They walked away with a 9-4 win over the Arlington Eagles. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Mustangs as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Owen Kreikemeier made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Raymond Central let Tucker Matulka and Dawson Potter run wild. Matulka scored a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Potter scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Matulka a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Asher Allen, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Raymond Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Raymond Central picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-8. As for Arlington, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Coincidentally, Raymond Central and Arlington will both be playing Douglas County West the next time they take the field. The Mustangs will host the Falcon at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Eagles will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
