Softball Recap: Attica Comes Up Short

Attica had lost six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 0-5 to make it seven. They lost 18-1 to the Covington Trojans. The Red Ramblers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Attica saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Naveen Hill, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases. Kenzie Goff also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

As for Covington, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.5 runs over those games.

On Covington's side, Alexus Peaslee made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Peaslee has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Lauren Hardy was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Preslee Shaw, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Covington beat Attica by a score of 22-3 on Thursday.
