Football Recap: Central Islip Musketeers vs. Ward Melville Patriots
Central Islip had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-3 to make it seven. They were dealt a 56-0 defeat at the hands of the Ward Melville Patriots. The Musketeers lost against the Patriots in their previous head to head back in September of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 34-0 score last time.
As for Ward Melville, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0. Fans of they have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.
Ward Melville's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tony Gorsky, who rushed for 156 yards and one score on only nine carries. Gorsky's longest rush was for an impressive 59 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Joey Benedetto was in the mix too, providing Ward Melville with two touchdowns.
